Denver’s Baker neighborhood is a fantastic combination of historic charm and modern conveniences, described by some as the perfect marriage of old and new. In 2000, the City of Denver decided to grant this part of Baker Historic Preservation back to help keep the neighborhood authentic. With historical roots dating back to 1859, the Baker area is eclectic and unique.

The neighborhood features a mix of residential, industrial, and commercial properties, which mean that shopping and jobs are never far away. Baker is bordered by Broadway, West Mississippi, West 6th Avenue, and the South Platte River. Along Broadway, there is mostly a mix of retail and office space, but many Baker homeowners shop at the large retail shopping center at Alameda Avenue and Broadway.

Baker’s Main Street development on Broadway offers a diverse selection of stores and boutiques, casual and fine dining restaurants, numerous entertainment options, as well as access to mass transit. Several bus lines run through this part of the city, and two Light Rail stops are easily accessible at Alameda and I-25, and I-25 and Broadway.

Perhaps one of the most loved entertainment options in Baker is The Mayan Theater, which features independent movies. The theater has been a community staple since the 1930s. Just a mile away, Su Teatro puts on theatrical productions of all types and is becoming popular with Baker homeowners.
