The town of Conifer is appealing for many reasons. The combination of the small mountain town vibe coupled with the close proximity to Denver have Colorado residents and out of state buyers alike flocking to this popular area.

This small mountain has two grocery stores, a few shops, and some restaurants, but its primary appeal is the location. Tucked away in the mountains, buyers here are closer to skiing, camping, hiking and lots of opportunities for wildlife viewing.

Some would-be buyers are concerned about harsh winters in Conifer, but the winter season is generally pretty mild there. While the town sits at 8,277 feet - about 3,000 feet higher than Denver’s mile-high status - it’s nestled in one of Colorado’s “banana belts” and gets less snow than you might expect. In fact, Conifer’s average snowfall is 60.3 inches, which is just a few inches more than Denver’s average 56.5 inches of snow each year.

Buyers looking at Conifer can get more for their money than in nearby Evergreen, but home values here are increasing like other areas in Jefferson County.

The average price for a single-family, three-bedroom home in Conifer is around $650,000. But prices can range from $200,000 for a cabin to several million for a larger home on acres of land. Inventory in Conifer isn’t always plentiful, and homes that are for sale general don’t stay on the market for longer than 10 days or so.

Whether you’re looking for an existing home or land to build a custom home, Conifer may be the perfect place to explore. Mortgage rates are still quite low, and sellers are pricing their homes more competitively. Give Metrowest a shout today – we’d be happy to show you around this exciting area!
